This past spring, we visited Mount Plesant with our bikes in tow and compiled this guide. The area is completely bikeable if you’re the type to explore on two wheels. This guide will take you through our recommendations for the must-see and do stops to make the most of your weekend. Indulge in Fresh, Local Seafood

Coastal South Carolina is a seafood lover’s paradise, offering local dishes that truly capture the essence of the region. With a rich maritime history and proximity to the Atlantic, it offers some of the freshest seafood you’ll ever taste. Whether you’re craving shrimp, oysters, or the catch of the day, Mount Pleasant has a little something to satisfy your salty palate. Many local establishments take pride in serving sustainably sourced, locally caught seafood, ensuring each bite is incredibly fresh and accompanied by incredibly complimentary flavours. Note that there are also delectable food options for the non -seafoodies in the area.

Be sure to spend an afternoon or evening on Shem Creek, a picturesque waterfront destination with stunning views and fresh seafood. This lively area boasts some of the best seafood restaurants and waterfront bars in the Lowcountry. Visitors can enjoy a scenic stroll along the boardwalk, where bottlenose dolphins are often seen swimming nearby. Watch the shrimp boats return with their day’s haul, or kayak through the winding tidal creeks looking at local wildlife. Whether dining, boating, or simply soaking in the sunset, Shem Creek provides an unforgettable experience in Mount Pleasant.

We would be amiss not to mention that there are some great brunch/breakfast spots in the area as well. And it’s worth noting that this area is not shy about it’s commitment to brunch. There is no shortage of Southern style foods including biscuits, grits and hushpuppies. Most breakfast restaurants have a healthy cocktail menu paired with their early to mid-day food offerings – they come in regular, pitcher and bottomless sizes!
